her future. good morning, thanks for joining us for "news 4 today." i'm eun yang. >> i'm joe krebs. today i trsday. it is the 16th day of sepmber 2010. let's take a live look outside this morning. we have some clouds above us right now. nice day at 66 degrees. going to get warm, too. here's tom. >> a southerly breeze will increase this afternoon, that will sweep in some warmth and get us into the mid 80s probably by midternoon. then a front moves in fromhe midwest and looks like it may trigger some showers in the mountains by midafternoon. shenandoah valley by perhaps late afternoon, and here inthe metro area after sunset. so thankfully much-needed rain coming our way. let's look at temperatures now. it's off to a pleasant start on this thursday morning. we're in the low 60s in the suburbs and rural areas. upper 60s in washington. and right near the water, only in the 50s though in western maryland and much of west virginia, eastern shore mid 60s. and right at the beach, it's near 70. and if a few of those showers moving in, where you see passing showers in ohio, kentucky, and sout

. at this point no suspects are in stody. >>> tonight, police have released the name of the armed man shot by u.s. capital police steps away from the capitol ilding. 29 year old john wesley wheeler of maryland. he pulled his gun on a group of police officers before he was shot and wounded help cheeler is charged with assault with intent to kill and other federal charges as well. >>> threecorner grocery stores and a fast-food restaurants. police believe all five 06 these northern virginia businesses were targets of the same robber. a similar method was used in each holdup. >> reporter: this armed robber has struck five businesses since late july. three of them have been haircuttery salons. police say the surveillance video shows a serial armed robber purling a knife while 408ding up a haircuttery salon. he swiped money from cash registers at businesses in fairfax and always string between late morning and early aftnoon. >> we're working closely with the county detectives on this because he, obviously, sees no jurisdictional boundaries so neither can we. >> reporter: pice say the robber started the

capitol dome in the night sk things are heating up, but tom reminds us it is fall, it's not quite the same as a summer day. >> the heat only lts for a few hours in the middle part of the afternoon. unlike the summertime it's hot from 10:00 in the morning until 8:00 in the evening. it is going to be getting above 90 by midafternoon. a mild morning on this thursday morning. good morning, right now we've got a clear sky, storms are all gone and temperatures are generally in the 60s throughout much of the region. it's in the low 70s in washington and right near the chesapeake bay and the atlantic beaches. in the mountains of western maryland, west virginia this morning, weatherwatchers reporting it in the 50s to near 60 there. and around virginia's tide water and the lower eastern shore in the upper 60s. over the last 12 hours the storms have dissipated and a weak area of high pressure holding for us from maine down to georgia. and we'll have this dry pattern, and the excessive heat continuing tay and tomorrow. now today's record is 98. we probably won't be near that. but likely near or perhap
